RICHARD PEVEAR is a renowned translator. Together with Larissa Volokhonsky, his wife, he has translated virtually the entire canon of Russian modernist writers, beginning with the award-winning The Brothers Karamazov, progressing through the rest of Dostoyevsky’s major fiction, and continuing with the work of Tolstoy, Gogol, Bulgakov, Chekov, Turgenev, and Pasternak.
